What measures can I take to protect my business’s products and knowledge?

You can do a lot to protect your business against terrorist acts and to respond appropriately if an incident occurs. Your business may already have taken many steps to prevent crime. The same sort of preventive measures can be used to make your business a less attractive target for terrorists.

You can protect your premises by ensuring:

  • an effective policy on regulating access to the premises;
  • an effective security system;
  • strong locks on fences, doors, and windows.

You can protect your personnel by ensuring that:

  • they are aware of the risk of terrorist or criminal activities;
  • references are checked before new personnel are hired;
  • measures are taken to check external personnel.

You can protect your business’s knowledge and information by ensuring that:

  • your systems are secure;
  • sensitive information is destroyed.
