U bent hier:Home Themes FAQ's What is the government doing to prevent terrorism in the Netherlands?
There is a wide range of measures for preventing terrorism in the Netherlands. The government is tackling recruitment and radicalisation, and the Crimes of Terrorism Act grants the Public Prosecution Service wider powers to take action under the criminal law.
In addition, the government has introduced the Counterterrorism Alert System. This system warns the public services and certain economic sectors in the event of a heightened threat. The system has four levels or states of alert: a basic level and three levels of ascending threat (low, moderate and high). Each level comes with its own set of security measures.
