Hotbeds of radicalisation

The NCTb coordinates a policy aimed at 'disrupting' hotbeds of radicalisation. These are organisations and groupings characterised by anti-Western and anti-integration attitudes, whose financing is dubious. Various measures are being taken to address anti-Western, anti-integration, intolerant and isolationist sentiment.

Measures

In such circumstances, the criminal law may not offer an adequate solution. So the government agencies concerned take action jointly and in a coordinated manner to counter the radicalisation process. The government agencies decide what intervention measures to deploy on a case-by-case basis. The NCTb coordinates the implementation of these measures. They include administrative, financial, communicative and legal measures, and all are based on existing legislation.

Person-specific interventions

In addition to dealing with hotbeds of radicalisation, the government is also taking person-specific measures to prevent, identify, isolate and contain radicalisation and recruitment. A person who poses a potential terrorist threat is kept under observation to the extent that it becomes obvious to him and the people around him that he is the subject of state interventions. The local police try to prevent people who may intend to perpetrate a terrorist attack from carrying out their plans. For more information about person-specific intervention, see Frequently asked questions.
