What measures can be expected?
The measures that will be taken always depend on the level of alert that applies to the sector or location in question. In the event of a low or moderate threat, you may see such measures as increased police surveillance and security cameras, searches of visitors and travellers, restricted access to certain locations, and so forth. At the highest level of alert, sites, buildings or areas may be closed off and evacuated and traffic may be brought to a standstill. The police and sections of the armed forces may also be deployed at this level. That may cause a certain amount of inconvenience. Of course, the public will always be informed of such developments. Incidentally, these measures do not apply to the whole of the Netherlands but are always tailored as much as possible to the time and place at which an attack is expected to occur.
